Surgery in the Malarious District of Jehanabad

It is seldom that an Inspecting Medical Officer has time to keep any important case under his direct observation from its commencement to tho end. He is hurried over in the course of his business from one extremity of his circle to the other, overlooking the clinical records of interesting instances of disease and cure, which are brought to his notice from time to time. A few of these are now given to the profession from private notes, which would go to prove that a malarious climate is not incompatible with brilliant results in surgical practice, and that the mortality in cottage hospitals falls far short of what occurs in palatial hospitals in metropolitan towns. The so-called Jehanabad Charitable Dispensary consists of a single miserable hut, without any cot, bedding, or an attendant.
